WPT Prime Taiwan in full swing at the CTP Club Taipei; early winners, POF standings; Mini HR still open and Ladies Event tonight

With borders now loosened, players around the region have set their sights on the first ever World Poker Tour Prime series in Taiwan. The festival kicked off on November 11 at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club) and is scheduled to run through November 21. The first four days saw the floor pumping with action as players chased down early trophies. Five winners were crowned with 17 more titles up for grabs. Another hot item is the Player of the Festival title which awards a WPT Passport to any Season XXI Main tour worth $5,000. Current results and POF standings are at the bottom of the page. 

WPT Prime Taiwan – FULL RESULTS 

In May, the brand’s Prime series was first introduced in Ha Noi, Vietnam resulting in a record turnout at the Main Event. Two months later, the Cambodia stop reached even greater heights for the brand in Asia. The ongoing WPT Prime Taiwan aims to break records of its own with a menu of events that caters to all types of bankrolls. Buy ins go from NT$ 6,000 (~$195) to the Super High Roller of $ 200,000 (~$6,465). 

WPT Prime Taiwan – PLAYER GUIDE

Today’s games open with the Mini High Roller Day 2. Players can still jump in. It starts at 1pm. Registration closes at 1:45pm. Buy in is NT$ 66,000 (~$2,135). Additionally there are several new events in the lineup, one of them is on deck today, the Ladies Event at 7pm, buy in is NT$ 6,000 (~$195).

The centerpiece of the festival is the Main Event which boasts a NT$ 10,000,000 (~$323,325) guarantee. It is coming up in two days, from November 17 to 21. Buy in is NT$ 33,000,000 (~US$ 1,070). In addition to the cash prize, the eventual winner will be awarded a $10,400 entry to the WPT World Championships 2022 or 2023. The WPT value adds airfare and accommodations.

Event 1: Superstack Opener – WEI TING CHEN – NT$ 277,500 (~$8,970)

The two-day Superstack Opener set the pace with 148 entries for a prize pool of NT$ 1,004,900 (~$32,490). Taiwan’s Wei Ting Chen shipped it for a career high NT$ 277,500 (~$8,970).

Event 2: Mystery Bounty $5M GTD – CHIN YAO WANG – NT$ 712,700 (~$23,040)

The Mystery Bounty event was one smoking ticket with 344 entries pulled in over three starters. With buy in at NT$ 16,500 (~$535) each, it was the exact turnout to meet the NT$ 5 Million guarantee. The top 43 earned cuts with Chin Yao Wang shaving NT$ 712,700 for his victory. Also grabbing some time under the spotlight was Belgium’s Kristof Segers who drew the biggest bounty of NT$ 400K and one of the second largest worth NT$ 200K making him the biggest bounty earner.
