Living up to its name, the World Poker Championship Main Event festivities at Grand Loyal Poker Club was nothing short of grand with 1,020 entries collected across its four starting flights. The generated prize pool is now listed at VN₫ 17,809,200,000 (~US$ 751,126), making it the biggest event in Vietnam poker history.
The massive field played down to 12.5%, equal to 128 runners qualifying through to Day 2 for now a guaranteed minimum payout of VN₫ 32,000,000 (~US$ 1,350). The VN₫ 3,226,200,000 (~US$ 136,069) top prize and WPC title however, remains to be the highlight on everyone’s list.

The single side event on yesterday’s schedule saw top Main Event runner Michael Kim Falcon with a monster chip lead from the last two tables to the end. Oh Se Kyung deemed second in the running after eliminating two players at once to seal the final 8. With the tournament being a Turbo format of 15 minute blind levels, stacks quickly grew short and left the remaining five players shortly cutting a deal with Denmark’s Falcon guaranteed the WPC trophy.
