Anh Duy Nguyen and Trong Xuan Dinh walked away as the event’s first champions while at the multi-day WPTC Series Opener, Day 1A concluded with six players remaining led by USA’s Trent Fechter. We’ve got those stories for you down below.
WPTC Series Opener: Day 1A
Light turnout at the WPTC Series Opener with only 51 taking to the felt. Although that’s a far cry from the 313 entries needed to breach the ₫2,500,000,000 (~$183,850) guaranteed prize pool, there are still two starters yet to play out. For those jumping in those heats, the player to catch is USA’s Trent Fechter who bagged the biggest stack at Day 1A.

The Mini High Roller wrapped up past the light of dawn with the 43-entry field crunched down to the champion. Claiming the trophy and the ₫270,700,000 (~$10,900) first prize was Vietnam’s Anh Duy Nguyen after outkicking CPC’s Kien Duc Tran at heads up. Nguyen is a well known local slugger, notorious for running deep at local high roller events. He adds this title to his other club wins.

Vietnam’s Truong Xuan Dinh became the first player to lift one of the custom designed Crown Poker Club trophies after besting the 25-entry field of the Deepstack NLH. Pretty good day for the champ who earned the lion’s share of the ₫72,000,000 (~$2,900) prize pool. Dinh turned his lowly ₫3,400,000 (~$137) buy in into a ₫36,000,000 (~~$1,450) payday. On the flip side, falling the hardest was Vietnam’s Vinh Huu Nguyen whose was outdrawn by
